Lakewood high school is starting a new club called the Plarn club! The goal of the club is to take plastic bags, turn them into plastic bag yarn, also known as plarn, and crochet them into sleeping mats. These mats will then be donated to JEFFCO Action Center to be given to the homeless. But in order for this to happen, the club needs lots of plastic bags. It takes 500 to 700 bags to make one mat. So beginning Wednesday, February 22, we will collect bags in boxes near the East and West entrances of the school until Wednesday, March 1st. So please bring in your used plastic grocery bags to donate during that time. If you have any questions or wish to join this club, please contact Shelby Tillema.
